Doors & Windows Casing Installation

Casing is the trim that gives doors, windows, and wall openings a clean, finished look, hiding gaps and adding style. At dezin, we install casing with precision to elevate your space.

What We Use:

  • Casing (wood or MDF, 3″-3.5”+ wide), Back-band
  • 18G finish nails, wood screws, biscuit jointer

Our Process:

  1. Measure jambs for doors/windows or edges for openings, adding a 1/4” reveal for doors/windows and ensuring symmetry for openings.
  2. Cut side and top pieces with a sharp 45° mitered or coped joints for tight corners. For arches, we shape custom or flexible molding.
  3. Test-fit pieces, check plumb with a level, and adjust for perfection.
  4. Secure with glue and nails into jambs/studs, spacing 18G nails every 12-16”.
  5. Screw from the top, fill, sand, and finish.

Baseboard / Shoe-moulding Installation

Baseboards and shoe moulding add polish and protection to your walls, seamlessly tying a room together. At dezin, we expertly install both modern flush-with-the-wall baseboards and traditional baseboard-plus-shoe moulding combos, using precise coping techniques for flawless results.

What We Use:

  • Baseboards (wood/MDF, 4-6” tall for modern, 5-11” for traditional), shoe moulding (1-2” tall), 18G finish nails,
  • PL adhesive

Our Process:

  1. Measure: Measure walls, noting corners and obstacles. Plan for 1/16” gap above flooring for expansion.
  2. Cut: For modern flush baseboards, cut square edges to sit tight against walls. For traditional, cut baseboards and shoe moulding, coping one end of each inside corner for a tight fit.
  3. Test-Fit: Check alignment with a level, ensuring flush (modern) or layered (traditional with shoe) placement.
  4. Install: Glue (PL) and nail baseboards to studs every 12-16”; add shoe moulding at the base for traditional style, nailing into baseboard/floor.
